Health Visits

WCHS provides the following services to the public: access to them is not limited to being a Windham County resident or to financial need. 

  • Vaccine Clinics: Various vaccinations, microchipping, and heartworm testing can be done during a vaccine clinic slot. Each slot is 5 minutes and is for one pet. Do not bring multiple pets to a single vaccine slot. Only 1 pet will be seen per appointment booked. The time provided is for the doctor to assess if the pet is healthy enough for vaccinations and provide those vaccinations.These appointments are not designed to replace yearly physicals or evaluate and/or treat your pet's issues. These appointments can be booster appointments to an initial vaccine, provided proof of the previous shot exists.

  • Nail trim clinics: Technicians trim nails and can insert a microchip during these clinics. Book an appointment for a Nail Trim

  • Microchips & ID tags: Offered at the time of other services.  

  • Euthanasia & cremation: Call or email for an appointment.

  • Flea/tick preventatives: Prescription flea/tick medications require a WCHS veterinarian's prior approval. WCHS also offers “over-the-counter” treatments.

  • Basic dental (prior veterinary consultation required). Call for additional information.

Cost for Services*

  • Nail trimming - $24

  • Microchip - $30

  • Rabies vaccine - $25

  • Most vaccinations (other than Lyme) and routine tests (e.g., heartworm) are between $18 and $28

  • Private or communal pet cremation is available by appointment. The fees are a flat rate of $150 for Private Cremation (you get the ashes returned) and $50 for Communal cremation (you don't get the ashes returned). Call or email for additional information or to schedule a cremation.

  • Dental consultation and work - call or email the clinic to learn more about pet dentals.

Costs for Preventative Products*

Flea/tick treatments, wormer and non-prescription items are available on a sliding scale, based on need. We have the following treatments available:

  • ParaDefense for cats (fleas only) - $10 per dose

  • ParaDefense Advanced for dogs (fleas and ticks) - $10 per dose

  • Effipro Plus for cats (fleas and ticks) - $10 per dose

If you are concerned about the cost of services your pet needs, please visit our Pet Care Assistance (PCA) program for details on applying for discounted rates.

We are not a full-service or emergency veterinary clinic. Our veterinarians are part-time and do not see pets outside of scheduled appointments.

We can only dispense prescription drugs by law if our veterinarian has seen your animal.

WCHS does not provide healthy or sick pet exams or treatments to clients not in the PCA program.
